…for the sake of sanity.

I’m working on a lot of things right now.  Whether I’m plowing through hundreds of pages of readings or attempting to get back into running shape for a Turkey Trot in November, it is seeming like I’m always busy.  Something that I will never compromise, however, is time spent just for me.  Sure, sometimes you have to forget your personal sanity to meet a deadline, but once in a while it’s nice to just kick up your heels and indulge in a little relaxation.

For me, that’s been the story of the beginning of this week.  Classes were cancelled for Monday and Tuesday for a Fall Study Break and I’ve decided that I deserve a little rest.  I’ve been working hard and adjusting for six weeks now, so what does it matter if I watch a few too many episodes of Gossip Girl while I organize my desk for the second half of the semester.

If there’s one thing I can learn from this week, it is this: it’s okay to take a break.  Not too often, to be sure, but just often enough to ensure that I don’t go absolutely crazy.

Note to self: Stop worrying and indulge yourself in an episode of a trashy TV show or a cup of coffee because it’s okay to delay for the sake of sanity.
